Abstract:
Trochoid cam gear (TCG) is a novel precisionrack and gear transmission with high performance, such as non-backlash, high precision, low noise, etc. However, the nonlinear dynamics, especially theimpact characteristics is not investigated. In thepresent, the amplitude-frequency characteristicequation of the TCG is constructed. Firstly, thetrochoid equation and the tooth profile equation arededuced. Secondly, the damping, meshing state andexternal excitation are considered to build up a puretorsional nonlinear dynamic model. Thirdly, underthe condition that the meshing state of the meshingpair is represented by polynomial function, theamplitude-frequency characteristic equation of thesystem in different meshing states is construction byLindstedt-Poincaré (L-P) method. Finally, theamplitude-frequency characteristics of the TCG withthree parameters (the number of rollers, the rotaryinertia of gear, and the radius of rolling circle) areinvestigated. The results show that the number ofrollers is significant to the amplitude-frequencycharacteristic, whereas the other two parameters arenot sensitive.
