Numerical Analysis of the Flow in a Delayed Coker Unit Fractionator Overhead Vapor Line

    by Chun-Lang Yeh

    Abstract

In this study, we applied computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to investigate the flow in a delayed coker unit (DCU) fractionator overhead vapor line connected to an air cooler. The causes of the pipe damage and the strategies to alleviate the occurrence of the damage are discussed. It is found that the flow direction of the working fluid in the 30” main pipe biases the downstream flow to the east side, which causes the east half part of the pipe system to deteriorate earlier than the west half pa...

Research on Optimization of Structural Parameters of Plastic-Iined Pumps Based on Genetic Algorithm

by Xu Fang, Youmin Wang, Na Lu, Qidi Ke and Binxue Xu

    Abstract

Low efficiency and small cavitation margin have always been difficult problems for low specific speed pumps. Its impact on plastic-lined pumps is even greater. So in this study, a plastic-lined pump with a specific speed of 65 is used as the research object. PumpLinx was used to simulate the internal flow field of the plastic-lined pump. The internal velocity, pressure, and flow line distribution diagrams were obtained, which verified the reasonability of the overall structure of the model. Howe...

Design of Drawing Die for Rear Wheel Cover Outer Panel and Optimization of Wear Process Parameters

by Guoqing Gong, Youmin Wang and Kefan Yang

    Abstract

Aiming at the problem of the wear caused by the mutual movement between the convex die and the sheet material in the stamping process, which results in a decrease in the die service life. In the paper, the three-dimensional design of the drawing die for the outer plate of the rear wheel cover was carried out by using UG, the simulation of the die stamping process was carried out by using Deform-3D, the main wear positions of the die were determined, the four process parameters of die clearance, ...

Injection Molding and Process Parameter Optimization of All-Plastic Front Door Sill Pressure Plate for Automobile

by Lu Wang and Lingfeng Tang

    Abstract

With the continuous development of plastic strip steel technology, optimization of plastic part process parameters has become one of the hot research in the field of injection molding. This paper takes the automobile front door sill pressure plate as the research object and compares the results of filling time, cavitation, and weld line during the filling process by Moldflow analysis to determine the optimal number and position of gates. Five parameters such as mold temperature and melt temperat...

Design of Back-Stepping Reaching Law Controller for Ultrasonic Motor Using Friction Drive

    by Gang-Feng Yan

    Abstract

As the actuator of the control system, the ultrasonicin used motor is widely precision-manufactured drive equipment. In this paper, an approximate time-domain mathematical model is established firstly for the selected ultrasonic motor control system, and the parameters of the system models are identified using the least square method. Then, a back-stepping reaching law controller is proposed and designed for the selected ultrasonic motor system, the stability of the ultrasonic motor control syst...

Grid Gap Measurement Method Based on Machine Vision

by Hao Yang, Li-Xu Kang, Han-Zhong Tao, Hao-Yu Li, Hai-Feng Zhang and Yu Fang

    Abstract

Grid assembly is the core component of ion thruster. The grid gap is a key thruster parameter that affects the divergence angle and the thrust of ion beams. However, the measurement of grid gap mainly relies on manual methods in practical applications. To solve the technical problem with the automatic detection of grid gaps during the assembly process, a noncontact grid gap detection method based on machine vision is proposed. A mathematical model of grid gaps and small aperture areas is establi...

Adaptive Fractional Order PID Controller for Angle Tracking In Steer-By-Wire System

by Cong-Cong Guo, Chang-Shui Wu and De-Guan He

    Abstract

To ensure fast and accurate angle tracking during car steering, reduce delay time, and improve the tracking performance of the Steer-by-Wire (SBW) system, a fractional order PID (FOPID) controller with feedforward compensation is designed. The PID controller is approximated using the Oustaloup approximation method, reducing the tuning dimension of FOPID. An improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is utilized to dynamically adjust the four parameters of FOPID, thereby decreasing the ...

Cold Rolling Effect on Mechanical Properties and Fracture Toughness Behavior of AA1050 Aluminum Alloy

by Wafa Taktak , Nader Haddar and Riadh Elleuch

    Abstract

The present paper reveals an experimental investigation of the effect of cold rolling (CR) on the mechanical properties and fracture toughness behavior of AA1050 H16 aluminum alloy. The received materials were cold rolled at different percentage of cold rolling (25%, 50% and 75%). The mechanical tensile properties of the specimens with different cold rolling percentage were determined by monotonic tensile test along two directions (RD: rolling direction, TD: transversal direction). Besides, the...

Investigation of Corrosion Properties of LA-91 Alloy Coated with MAO Method

by Suleyman Sukuroglu , Yasar Totik , Ebru Emine Sukuroglu and Selcuk Avci

    Abstract

LA91 magnesium alloy is a super lightweight magnesium-lithium alloy proposed for next generation materials. In addition to the advantages of these alloys such as low density, high strength-to-weight ratio, specific stiffness and brittleness, these alloys also have disadvantages such as low corrosion resistance and the oxide-carbonate film formed on the surfaces of the alloys cannot provide sufficient corrosion protection even in non- corrosive environments. In this study, micro arc oxidation, on...

A Study on Establishing the Biharmonic Spline Interpolation Surface Based on Five SDG Pillars

    by Kuei-Hao Chang

    Abstract

This study uses the biharmonic spline interpolation method to create surfaces that help analyze the interactions and synergies of multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The detailed analysis reveals two unique interpolation surfaces: The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). The GRI surface is formed from a linear combination of three GRI pillars, displaying two harmonic patterns. Six convex harmonics, labeled A to F...
