Optimization of Surface Texture for Friction Performance in Continuous Rotary Electro-Hydraulic Servo Motor Friction Pairs

Abstract: The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of surface texture on the friction performance of continuous rotary motor friction pairs. A simplified model of the gap flow field between the motor blade and stator friction pair was constructed. Simulations of fluid models with varying textures were conducted using FLUENT software to analyze the relationship between the maximum positive pressure of the oil film, load-carrying capacity, and friction coefficient. Based on the simulation results, an optimal texture was machined onto specimens for friction testing. The influence of surface texture on friction performance was assessed by comparing friction coefficients between textured and smooth surfaces at different speeds and loads. The results demonstrate that the designed surface texture significantly enhances the friction performance of motor friction pairs.
