Abstract:
With the more complex downhole conditions, stuck drilling often occurs in downhole drilling system. In order to quickly deal with the stuck drilling accident and resume drilling operation, this study proposes an up-and-down integrated hydraulic jar while drilling. Theoretical analysis is conducted on the collision force based on its working characteristics, and motion simulation analysis of the jar couple is carried out. The dynamic characteristics of the drill string system are determined by establishing multi-degree-of-freedom model for downhole axial vibrations, and subsequently analyzing the resulting drill string vibration loads and related parameters. Analysis results demonstrate that in order to obtain a better effect of unlocking, the hydraulic drilling jar should be installed as close as possible to the stuck point, and the force acting on hydraulic drilling jar should be increased. Finally, the experimental verification is conducted to complete the tensile and compression experiments of both upstroke and downstroke generated by the drilling jar. The maximum relative error of the upper impact collision force was 6.9616%, and the average relative error was 5.6185%; while the maximum relative error between theoretical calculation results and experimental values of lower impact collision force was 6.7199%, and the average relative error was 6.85%. All relative errors are within the reasonable range. The reliability of the theoretical calculations is confirmed through a comparison between the experimental and theoretical results.
