Abstract:
Gear pumps are popularly applied in industry, so,there are many researches published in the past years. However, there are few numerical simulations on theinfluence of contact point for outlet mass flow rate. Inrecent years, it is pointed out that the contact point mustbe considered in numerical simulation for cases whoseoutlet pressure is high, because the outlet flow rate ofgear pump is significantly changed. In this study, a two dimensional numerical and theassociated experimental study were conducted toexplore the effect of contact point on the characteristicsof an involute spur gear pump. Besides, the relationshipsof the displacement efficiency, the rotation speed, andthe pressure of outlet of a gear pumps are investigated. The range of the above mentioned parameters arenumerically and experimentally investigated. Theexperiments showed good match with the analysisresults proposed in this paper.
